Our Fundraising

We at The White House Nursery feel it is very important to 'lend a helping hand' where we can, particularly where children are concerned. Each year we choose at least one charity or cause to support with our fundraising events throughout the year.

Past charities have included The Make A Wish Foundation, Little Miracles Charity, The Rainbow Trust and Bliss Charity. But for 2021 decided to support a family much closer to home.

Jordan Anderson joined The White House Nursery Alfreton team last year and has had a fantastic impact on nursery life - building relationships with staff, children and their families. However, after experiencing extreme back pain over Christmas 2020, Jordan was taken into hospital and diagnosed with a spinal abscess. He has now been told he may never walk again.

Whilst he was undergoing treatment at Sheffield Teaching Hospital, his wife Emily was due to give birth to their first child at Chesterfield Royal Hospital in just a matter of weeks. Jordan had prepared himself for the fact that he wouldn't be there for the birth of his daughter, however they have since praised the fantastic care of staff at both hospitals after they pulled together to make it possible. Plans were made for Jordan to be transferred safely to Chesterfield hospital temporarily, so he could be there to support Emily and to welcome baby Elsie into the world whilst also receiving the vital care he needed.

Since the birth of their daughter, Jordan has continued to receive treatment at Sheffield Hospital and his condition has seen some improvement. His hard work, determination and positive outlook has meant that he could be allowed home some time in the next few weeks, when he will continue his recovery with his family. It goes without saying that Jordan and Emily have been through one of the toughest experiences a person can go through in the last few months, so we wanted to help give them something to look forward to once Jordan has finished his treatment.

During April 2021 we held a company wide fancy dress fundraiser week where staff and children came to nursery dresses in their fancy dress costumes and families made a donation. All sites made such a fantastic effort with their themed days and activities, the children really loved getting involved!

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Fancy Dress Fundraiser week! The support from our staff and families has been incredible.
