We would like to introduce you to a fantastic L4 qualification which we are extremely excited to be implementing across all our sites. Have you heard of PANco? No, well let me tell you more…
It is a CACHE Level 4 award in Promoting Health and Wellbeing through Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordination in the Early Years. (PANco) The Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator (PANco) qualification is a specialist role which has been designed by Early Years Specialists as a ‘well-being’ in action intervention for practitioners children and families.
Within the White House and Sinfin Community Childcare we are always looking at ways to support not only our families but you, our much-valued practitioners especially in terms of health and wellbeing. We have been researching this for some time and feel the need for this is even more relevant as we find ourselves in unprecedented times with a global pandemic. We did not just want a certificate or accreditation we wanted something that really made a difference and had an impact on the health and wellbeing of practitioners, children and families and this is what brought us to the PANco qualification.
Our vision is to have a PANco team across the organisation with a designated PANco at each site. This team would work together to ensure White House Nursery and Sinfin Community Childcare are truly committed in supporting health and wellbeing for all, implementing initiatives, and really making a difference. The role of the PANco would be to support this through a variety of ways:
Leading change to enable best practice
Using a ‘whole setting’ approach to raise awareness
Collaboration with external health and education professionals
Promoting activities within the setting
Being a role model for adopting healthy practices
Involving and supporting families in health and wellbeing initiatives
Supporting management on developing setting wide policies for nutrition and physical activities
