Launching our first original storybook!

We are very excited and proud to announce that The White House Nursery are launching our very first children's book entitled "I have a feeling in my tummy".

And given it's title, we thought there was no better time to tell you all about it, as we recognised World Mental Health Day last week.

Back in Spring last year we ran a short story writing competition for our staff, aimed at children in the early years and beyond. They were asked to write a children's story entirely from scratch and submit it to our panel of judges, where the winner would have their story illustrated, printed as a book and then distributed across our 6 nurseries.

We received some fantastic submissions from across all of our nurseries, but there could only be one winner...

Kirsty Doyle, deputy manager at our Alvaston nursery won first place with her story "I have a feeling in my tummy" - a beautifully written story about the ways we can sometimes feel as children (and as adults!). It was written with the aim of helping children better understand their feelings as they grow and develop, and to know that it's okay to feel the way they do.

Since announcing our winner, we have been busy creating the perfect illustrations to go with the story, before sending it off to print. Just a few days later, we have just taken delivery of over 1,000 copies of the book! And we can't wait to share it with you.

We will of course be sharing the story with the children at nursery, and what's more... All of our families will be able to claim their FREE copy of "I have a feeling in my tummy" from their nursery as of next week!

We really hope that children and their families will relate to this book and find it enjoy reading it when talking about feelings and emotions with their children.

Once you have your very own copy, we'd love to hear what you think of it! So please head over to our feedback form by clicking the link below.
